Student Loans

Summary

The American Action Forum will sponsor an event on student loans bringing together legislators, economists, and members of the higher education community to address reforming Pell Grants, FFEL, Direct Loans, and other federal programs, and looking at what the Obama administration has done and proposed in higher education. As unemployment post-graduation continues to escalate along with tuition costs, default rates, and the amount of student loans being borrowed, which will soon exceed $1 trillion, the higher education bubble is starting to resemble the subprime mortgage crisis.
