the growing defectors
A growing list of Democrats are balking over Pelosi’s plan to ram through a vote to overturn the election in IA-02, with several venting their frustrations yesterday in yet another drama-filled DCCC conference call.
For those keeping track, in just the last 24 hours, at least 6 Members have publicly spoken out against Pelosi’s plan…
Chris Pappas (NH-01): “This election result was certified by the State of Iowa and Rep. Miller-Meeks was sworn in nearly three months ago… the election is over and it’s time to move on.”
Dean Phillips (MN-03): “Losing a House election by six votes is painful for Democrats. But overturning it in the House would be even more painful for America. Just because a majority can, does not mean a majority should.”
Susan Wild (PA-07): “As I have said before in connection with the 2020 presidential election, legislators should be heeding states’ certifications of their elections. Unless there is rampant error and substantial evidence thereof, I do not believe it is the role of House members to dictate the outcome of elections.”
Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05): “I have deep reservations.”
Lou Correa (CA-46): “This is an issue that states should have primary responsibility in determining the outcome of the election. The state of Iowa certified it, and that’s what should stand.”
Anonymous Swing District Democrat: “Absent overwhelming evidence, it would be insane to overturn the results of the Iowa election. It would be wrong on principle. It would also be political malpractice.”
Who else will find the courage to speak up?
“Members are bailing left and right on Pelosi’s plan to steal this election because they know it would be a toxic disaster for faith in Democracy,” said AAN Communications Director Calvin Moore. “More Members should follow their colleagues’ lead and forcefully condemn Pelosi’s power grab.”
