American Energy Independence From Russia Act: A Solution That Meets The Moment

Across the country families are feeling the pain at the pump as gas prices remain 38% higher today than this time last year. 

But there’s a better way. 

Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Congressman Bruce Westerman have a solution that meets the moment: American Energy Independence from Russia Act (HR 6858), which would: 

• Restart federal oil and gas leasing
• Authorize construction of the Keystone Pipeline
• Remove restrictions on natural gas imports
• Require the Biden Administration to develop a plan to expand American energy production to offset Russian imports in 30 days.

“Working Americans need relief at the pump and the best way to provide that is unleashing energy production here at home,” said AAN Press Secretary Cally Perkins. “Congress has a real opportunity to tamp down skyrocketing gas prices and they should do so immediately.”
