Counterproductive: How A $15 Minimum Wage Hurts Workers

Have you heard the minimum wage political drumbeat? From the White House on down, liberals are calling for a minimum wage as high as $15 per hour.

On the surface, it can sound pretty good – especially in our economy of clear wage stagnation and Americans struggling to make ends meet.

But the facts show that this minimum wage increase could hurt the workers it claims to help.

Let's make sure that doesn’t happen.

Groundbreaking research just released by the American Action Forum finds these alarming conclusions:

  • A $15-per-hour minimum wage could mean the loss of 6.6 million jobs. Tweet: A $15 minimum wage would mean the loss of 6.6 million jobs. http://bit.ly/1SKUN7F @AAN
  • Only 6.7 percent of income gains from a $15 minimum wage would go to workers in poverty.  Tweet: Only 6.7% of income gains from a $15 minimum wage would go to workers in poverty. http://bit.ly/1SKUN7F @AAN

As noted, the poor can't afford counterproductive initiatives advanced in their name but harmful to their lives.
