Over 30 Leading Conservative And Tax Policy Organizations Commend Congress’ Tax Reform Push, Anticipate Swift Passage
MCGI-led coalition letter urges Congress to "work swiftly to make tax reform a reality."
WASHINGTON – As the House of Representatives and Senate prepare to go to conference to reconcile their parallel tax reform bills, American Action Network’s Middle-Class Growth Initiative (MCGI) released a coalition letter featuring more than 30 leading conservative and tax policy organizations reminding lawmakers what is at stake for middle-class families across the country. In the letter, the MCGI-led coalition urged Congress to “work swiftly to make tax reform a reality,” and asked legislators to get the bill passed by Christmas.
A personalized copy of the letter, the fifth released through AAN’s Middle-Class Growth Initiative project, will be delivered to the offices of every member of the House of Representatives and the Senate.
“American families have been waiting 31 years and counting for our archaic tax code to be brought up to speed,” said AAN Executive Director Corry Bliss. “Congress is closer to enacting comprehensive, pro-growth reforms than they’ve been in decades, and cannot afford to let this once-in-a-generation opportunity pass by. The legislation in both the House and Senate constructs a tax system that is simpler, fairer, and more competitive, and we look forward to the two chambers reconciling their differences in conference promptly and delivering a bill to the President’s desk. The message of today’s letter is clear: members of Congress should not leave for the holidays until meaningful tax reform is signed into law.”
