The data is in and the results are clear: The majority of Americans want to keep Medicaid reserved for working U.S. citizens – not illegal immigrants or those who choose not to work.

One new poll found that Independents approve by a whopping 19-point margin of “requiring low-income childless adults under age 65 to prove they are working or disabled to get Medicaid.”

Another recent poll found that even a majority of Californians oppose giving health care coverage to illegal immigrants.

And don’t forget: a recent AAN poll found that 72% of Americans favor “requiring able-bodied, working-age adults who receive Medicaid to at least look for work or participate in community service part-time in order to keep their Medicaid benefits, which would save America taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars over the next 10 years.”

Here’s the truth: Democrats don’t support policies that help working Americans.

That’s why Democrats oppose No Tax on Tips. It’s why they oppose No Tax on Overtime. It’s why they oppose raising wages for working Americans. It’s why they oppose tax cuts for working families, and it’s why they have a massive brand problem. The American people no longer see the Democratic Party as the party of the working class.
