AAN Launches Ad Campaign Against Tim Bishop: A Damn Good Idea?

WASHINGTON – Today the American Action Network released an ad “A Damn Good Idea?” in New York’s 1st congressional district race, calling Congressman Tim Bishop out for his out-of-touch rhetoric and even worse record on Obamacare.

Despite Obamacare’s broken promises and high costs that are hurting Long Islanders, Tim Bishop is an outspoken Obamacare champion – even calling the law a “pretty damn good idea” in an interview this year.

This cable TV and online advertising buy is part of AAN’s $1.2 Million in independent expenditures in the NY-01 race. Bishop faces distinguished Army reservist and center-right rising star Lee Zeldin in November.

“Tim Bishop’s ‘damn good idea’ shows he’s an out-of-touch Obamacare booster who votes with Obama at the expense of Long Island families,” said Emily Davis, spokeswoman for American Action Network. “Long Islanders hurting under broken promises and high costs know Tim Bishop isn’t telling them the truth about Obamacare. Tim Bishop is part of the problem: he’s wrong on Obamacare and wrong for Long Island.”

:30 Script:

John: Tim Bishop thinks Obamacare is a damn good idea, we think it’s a damn bad idea

Gene: You can’t own a small business and support Obamacare, you can’t do it, and you can’t grow your business

John: He doesn’t care about the people that are here suffering Gene: I don’t even see the guy John: He goes from New York City to Southampton and forgets everything in between

Gene: I wish Congressman Bishop could walk in my shoes for a day. It would be a whole different ball game, he wouldn’t be voting for Obamacare

John: Tim Bishop is part of the problem

Gene: Tim Bishop ain’t the guy
