House takes up opioid legislation; six-figure AAN ad campaign encourages action
WASHINGTON – American Action Network (@AAN) is launching a new comprehensive ad campaign advocating on behalf of current efforts to combat the opioid epidemic. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, since 1999 more than 350,000 people have died from an overdose involving opioids. The bipartisan district-specific ad campaign features a mother detailing the impact opioids have had on her family and why members of Congress should continue to fight back against this dangerous epidemic. “All across the country, families are dealing with the effects of the opioid epidemic,” said Corry Bliss, AAN Executive Director. “Democrats and Republicans have an opportunity to pass several pieces of legislation that will help curb this deadly epidemic. From providing more funding to combat opioid abuse to cracking down on illegal drug dealers, this is chance for lawmakers to make a real difference. AAN encourages members of Congress to take action and support legislation to combat the opioid epidemic and help families across the country who are in need.”
