New Poll: Progressives Identify with Socialism
WASHINGTON – The American Action Network (@AAN) today released survey results on Democrat primary voters’ views on socialism. With a socialist as a leading candidate for the presidential nomination, this survey sheds new light on the ideological identity of progressives.
Among the key findings of the survey:
- By a 30 point margin, a majority of Democrats polled believe socialism has a positive impact on society.
- They say they agree more with socialism than capitalism (40%/25%).
- They favor ending the private health system and replacing it with a government-run system (47%/39%).
- 67% say the media should prove they are not biased against the content of a campus rally on racial equality before covering it.
The OnMessage Inc survey of likely Democrat primary voters was conducted from February 2-4, 2016, and the margin of error is +/-3.1%.
