NEWS RELEASE: OBAMA’S BIG GOVERNMENT VISION, POPULIST RHETORIC WILL IMPEDE ECONOMY, DIVIDE AMERICANS
WASHINGTON – American Action Network Chairman, Senator Norm Coleman, today issued the following statement in response to the State of the Union address:
“For millions of Americans still desperately looking for work, all they heard from the president tonight was a rehash of the same ideas and policies that have stifled economic growth and job creation,” said Coleman. “President Obama hopes to complete the final phase of his vision of a nation where the state plays a central role in directing and managing our economy. Another four years of an Obama administration expands the power of government to decide what healthcare we will have, what industries will survive and who should have the ability to succeed in achieving the American Dream.
“The president could have spoke of bringing America together — instead he recycled the overheated populist rhetoric that is intended to drive us apart — not bring us together. Instead of tying our future to the proven power of capitalism and the private sector to restore our nation's global economic dominance, the president spoke of a future in which in which it is the power of the state — not its people — that will guide us into the next century.”
